5-4-08 MACH MeMe!!!!!
MeMe sat on 18 double Qs for months. We only did a few trials over the past four
months so it took a lot longer than we thought. FINALLY, Mel & MeMe got that last
double Q to finish their Master Agility Champion title which made MeMe, at 4 years
and 1 week, the youngest standard Poodle to ever get a MACH.
MeMe has overcome parvo as a small puppy, retinal dysplasia and Legg-Perthes
disease to become an amazing agility dog. At 1 year, she had an FHO to remove
her femoral head for the Legg-Perthes disease. We were told she would never do
agility but the more exercise she got, the better her leg would be. We spent many
months doing rehab on MeMe's leg from swimming, to hill walking, to the
underwater treadmill. MeMe went back to agility work 6 months after surgery and
finally was able to compete. So, less than a year form the time she got her AX title,
MeMe went on to finish her MACH.
We are SO very proud of her.
A friend did the video taping and she was unfamiliar with the camera so the video is
a bit wobbly to say the least.
Here is her JWW run (3rd place in the competitive 20" class!)
Then, on a very challenging standard course under judge and fellow Poodle lover
and owner, Kitty Bradley, Mel & MeMe struggled due to MACH nerves on Mel's part
but pulled it out for the title. It was not a pretty run and you will see little MeMe jump
up and bite at Mel and then give him hell when his front cross is late before the 180
after the table. She tries to jump up and lick the judge when she congratulates Mel.
Poor little MeMe can't hold her licker!
MeMe finished her MACH with nearly 1,200 points earned in less than a year!
We hope she is an inspiration to all dogs with Legg-Perthes!
You can hear my cell phone ringing at the end of the run. That was a friend calling
to find out how Uncle Jef was doing at World Team Try Outs. That was the last
thing on my mind at that point LOL.

This was a 1st place for MeMe. Not bad for a little girl with only one hip joint!
